You will need flexibility to work an occasional night or weekend if required. The Role Leading the Customer Regional Engineering group, the execution arm of our engineering organization in the Americas, you'll set the vision and translate it into action as you lead a 500-person team of directors, managers, and engineers responsible for successful execution of all customer-related programs for the Americas. We have locations in Van Buren, MI; Mexico; and Brazil. You'll have seven direct reports including Chief Engineers for our OEMs (Ford, GM), Site Managers, and others. You will oversee execution related to the quality of technical events, engineering targets, TQCM, software quality, deployment of Systems Gates in VPDS and personnel management. You'll develop talent capability and capacity in your department, including succession planning, to ensure delivery of future business needs. About 30% of your time will be spent working with customers and building quality technical relationships, about 40% on project execution, and the other 30% on strategic planning and execution. You'll manage multiple priorities, improve operations, and maintain positive and productive relationships while delivering results. You will share responsibility for new business growth with the Customer Business Group, ensuring that engineering quotes are conservative yet appropriate to win the business, and that we have the right technical solutions to meet evolving customer needs. Some of your specific tasks will include: Program Execution -- Develop strategies to staff and execute projects on time and within budget, increase focus on quality, manage resources, and deliver as promised. Financial Performance -- Includes performance to budget and business cases for new products and features. Technical Leadership / New Business Growth -- Partner with the Customer Group to develop business, build and maintain key relationships, and drive technical sales performance. Talent & Leadership Development / Performance Management -- Develop capability and capacity, drive the technical ladder process, raise the performance bar, and provide consistent feedback.
